Hey guys, my best friend was recently diagnosed with Rheumatoid Arthritis and she’s always been a really active girl. Lately she’s been having alot of pain, and i just wanna help her. Any ideas? Thanks.

I can not run due to the arthritis in my knees, swimming is out of the question due to financial reasons - so I walk, but that gets boring. So any ideas for other cardio would be great. Also - need to work on abs but get migraines whenever I do sit-ups. Yes I have had aerobic instructors watch me do them & they say that I am doing them right & not pulling on my neck, etc… but still get migraines anyway. Also get migraines with strenuous cardio workouts. I really want to lose weight, but it just seems that there are obstacles around every corner. So any suggestions/advice would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!!!

tenderness. Help please?

I really need something that will let me exercise daily without hurting my knees.

Running has no effect but just walking up stairs pains me greatly.

Is the elliptical machine a pain free workout for people with arthritis?

I have "Arther: in my knees, feet, hands, ankles, and my whole spine,I was told to try to find a pool that can help me at no cost to me.How?,nothing is free.

Cant do any upper body exercise due to my right shoulder and cant do any lower body exercise due to the knee problem. tried swimming but it too causes shoulder pain.Have tried different doctors and physiotherapy without any success…….I AM JUST 34 YEARS OLD. HOW WILL I LIVE THE REST OF MY LIFE WITHOUT EXERCISE???, I will probably die young due to lack of exercise. this is very frustrating.

Due to a series of knee injuries, I’m already getting arthritis in my right knee (at 31 years old!). My doc and physical therapist have both told me that the important thing to do with arthritis is to keep moving - it will get worse if you’re stationary. So I have been doing that. However, my knee hurts terribly by the time I’m finished. Is this normal for an arthritic knee, or am I overdoing it, or what? I have tried to call the doc and ask, but it takes an act of congress to get a call back. I’m still waiting, but just want to know if I should slow down on the exercise in the meantime.
I swim about once a week, but most of my exercise comes from an elliptical machine, about 30 minutes a day.

The exercise list for a patient suffering from rhematoid arthritis who is 25 years old.

I was in my doctor's office and saw pamphlets for Synvisc injections for the knees. My doc said it would probably help me. Have been annoyed about my diet and exercise regimen, too. I'm 5',small frame and I weighed 110 pounds 2 yrs ago, creeping up to like 135 now, but lately I can't find any exercises I can do without suffering a great deal in my joints afterward. My doc said stairs and elliptical machines are out for me (knees too bad) Anybody have any input for me, on any of this, I'll be grateful. Also, if anyone has been thru the mill with the arthritis meds, what do you find works well ? (any thoughts on Glucosamine compounds?)

effectively? Swimming is not an option. Does power yoga help? How effective is stationary bike?

I have severe arthritis in both knees & back, I can't exercise like normal people that can jump around & walk & run. I have to use a walker or wheel chair, when I walk I can walk for just a few steps & have to sit down again the pain is so bad. I take celebrex for it every day. I heard pools are a good way to get exercise but there its out of the question as I am on a limited budget & the pool fees cost way too much, any suggestions on how I can exercise every day & try to keep fit like I used to be? I would appriciate any suggestions.

I'm looking for suggestions for my Mom… 81 years old. She's overweight too. She used to do water exercises, but for a number of reasons, that's not possible this year.

Please explain WHY you are making the recommendations you make. Personal experience or testimonials would be much appreciated. Thanks for the suggestions.

I've had RA for ten years, and haven't taken regular medication for the last few, primarily because I began - and stuck with - a regular workout routine supplemented instead by the occasional OTC painkiller. However, I'm only 22, and am wondering how this will affect me into my adult years and then as a senior. I don't want joint damage, but I also don't want a regimen of medication that isn't entirely necessary and could have damaging side-effects. Will exercise always - or ever - be enough to keep my symptoms under control and my joints in the best possible shape?

I'd prefer answers from knowledgeable experts or those with first-hand experience, please. Thank you!

Im 16 years old and i was diagnosed with juvenile erosive knee arthritis, and i would like to lose some weight, but my doctor said that walking is good but not for long periods, and he said running is out of the question. i would love to do water aerobics but my mom doesnt have enough money for the classes. now what does that leave me with? any suggestions?

I suspect I may have arthritis in my right thumb — all of a sudden it's steadily painful, but I am only guessing (I have not yet consulted my doctor). I wonder if using one of those hand exercisers would be a helpful thing to do, or would it just make matters worse? I'm talking about those items you grip and then squeeze together.

I also had twins, one with c section and the other vaginally. So I had my stomach muscles torn in both directions. I AM NOT LOOKING TO BUY ANY EQUIPMENT OR DIET PLANS. I firmly believe that someone knows something that will help!

Like such as sports like skiiing, skating, and biking perhaps? What are your experiences?

I am being treated for Rheumatoid Arthritis, my doctor says I can exercise, but lately I have been having flares so my question is, are there any exercises that are low impact. I have been gaining a little weight and I feel sad, but like I said there are quite a few days where I am in too much discomfort to exercise. Medicine only does so much, the dicomfort from the flares will always be there…so what would suggestions be of low impact exercise that could help me get rid of the 5-10 pounds I have put on?
