Arthritis Hip Archives

The pain is deep and often goes down the muscle in the front of my thighs. When I sit down it is a burning feeling in the same place. What can this be?

it only hurts when the left leg rotates so i’m fine walking. i am only 27 but am stiffer than most 90 year old men and that includes the ones who died when they were 80. would the doctor be able to do anything? swap hips with a dead 90 year old?

My dog Duke has it. I don’t think its hip dysplasia. my mom also thinks he has arthritis because when the weather changes he limps.

I used to walk him alot more but wen I am down and not happy(depression) i don’t but I was gonna walk him today but how long should I walk him for.
Should I put heat or cold on where he limps?

My veterinarian suggested Rimadyl which can be very expensive Can anyone make suggestions about other meds or remedies that might help?

I’m not even 30 yet and I’m starting to feel like I have arthritis in my joints- hands for sure, feet most likely, as well as similar pain in my knees, elbows, and hips. I never had any of this pain before the car accident that caused lasting pain in my neck and back, so I wondered if it was possible that the pain in my joints could be caused by that injury?

In the morning, my lower back (and hips) hurt really bad when sitting or standing up after sitting for a while. How do I know if this is an arthritis type thing or just back pain from something else? It’s been going on for a couple months now…

I am a 37-year-old female. Ever since a bladder infection (this may or may not be connected), I have had right outer hip pain ever since. This has been for five weeks. When I sit for a long time or lay down for a long time (unless I am taking ibuprofen), it hurts real bad when I get up; however, the longer I walk around and/or stand, the pain dissipates. Does it sound like arthritis is paying me an early visit?
If I post this in the medical section, all I get is SPAM.

My dog has a limp whenever he gets up from laying. He also is a little slow sitting down. he is a 3-year old Rott Lab mix. He doesn’t cry or whine about it and I try to massage his hip and he doesn’t flinch. Could it just be arthritis or something?

He’s been sick for 4 months now and on the waiting for UCLA Children’s Hospital. All the blood tests are coming back normal as well as the MRI. The only thing he tested positive for was the rheumatoid factor (and slightly anemic) but he doesn’t have rheumatoid arthritis per 2 doctors. He’s starting to lose his balance when he stands/walks and can’t sit down for any amount of time without pain from the hips down to the ankles (including the muscles). The only comfortable position he can be in with the least amount of pain is flat on the floor - even sleeping on an extremely comfortable mattress hurts. Regardless of where he sleeps at night, he is woken up in the middle of the night with pain. He is taking naprosyn per the UCLA doctor until he can get in to see her. Has anyone else experienced this or know anything about this? He was negative for lupus, mono, lyme disease, ankylosing spondylitis.
We are on the waiting list for a pediatric neurologist and pediatric ophthalmologist also. Watching my son in pain and being stuck in limbo because of the "system" is so frustrating. If it were their children they would see him. Our family doctor keeps calling to emphasize the urgency but it’s gotten us nowhere so far.

My joints pop and crack a lot! Almost every joint, my toes, ankles, knees, hips, shoulders, elbows… ect. I’m only 26, but my dad has arthritis pretty bad and has already had a hip replaced at 59. My joints don’t usually hurt, sometimes my hip will if it cracks particullarly hard. My hubby and I have started working out and my hips and knees will hurt the next day. Just wondering what other peoples experiences with this were and if there’s anything I could do about it. Do the Glucosamine Chondroitin products help?

I know the obvious choice is x-rays and a vet visit, but I’m not exactly wealthy. She’s 3 years old, and she had FHO surgery on one hip at 6 months old. She just doesn’t run as much as she used to, so I’m concerned.

body rolling is a deep tissue message you administer to yourself with a firm foam roll or a body rolling ball. It uses deep compression to roll out muscle spasms and loosens muscle to get the blood flowing.

This question is about my 10 year old son.
He has had extreme hip pain for almost a year and it has now spread into his lower back. He does have a positive ANA test but all others were negative including those for arthritis.
I have had him to many specialists and they keep saying it is an auto immune problem but can not pinpoint what it is. They think Lupus may be possible cause of his symptoms and family history of it.
Does anyone with Lupus suffer pain in the hips and back?

Arthritis and such runs in the family, my grandmother doesn’t even have her real hips anymore. The pains have been getting worse and it’s definitely not from a lack of movement. Does anyone know of joint meds or even doctors? Homeopathic medicine, just anything. I’m in Northern NJ.

I’m 15 and for the last week I’ve had terrible pains in my right hip. It hurts more when I’ve sat down for a long time. Standing on one leg (right leg) hurts the hip so much. Walking upstairs is unbearable.
I checked for sciatic nerve but I don’t have shooting pains in my leg! It’s just the hip and sometimes in my butt when i sit down but hardly ever.
The pain is going down now, but could it come back and could it be hip arthritis?
The doctor told me that my symptoms are a mystery and that i should just take pain killers…how useless!!!

Re: My question:
I know this may sound like a simple question, but the way of constructing the discussion with her is difficult - i don’t want to sound helpless, or that i am disabled in some way and thus unable to perform my duties on the job…. What should i say… er - exactly?

I was thinking of something like "request due to medical reasons", but geez that sounds severe!

Background:
I recently discovered i have arthritis (i’m 26/ F). Before this was clearly so, i started working night shift, in a job where i do a lot of typing (and yes, i’m at work now).

Symptomatic issues:
If i am up during the day i have no problems with my hands, but from about 8pm onwards my hands swell up and all my joints (but particuarly my fingers, elbows and hips) become extremely painful and I have difficulty moving them.

Treatment:
Acupuncture works wonders for me, but recently i have been unable to afford treatment. I’m now taking Voltaren (which is okay) and using the Voltaren gel.
The big thing is that i am/ used to be one of the top performers and now my productivity has dropped significantly. It’s so frustrating.

A member of my family has hip arthritis and he has it for nearly a month now. But the problem is he is number 1 senior in tennis in my country and he hasn’t been playing because of his hip, and a BIG tournament was announced this week and he really wants to play maybe for the last time. So if you know how I can help him fast so he can play ?! THANKS IN ADVANCE .

My husband took 2 darvocet lastnight because he woke up in excrutiating pain (hip arthritis and back problems) and he has a drug test coming up. Will they show up? How long do they stay in your system?

I just found out recently that my 1 year old hound/beagle mix has pretty severe hip dysplasia in both hips and he is developing arthritis already. He has a consultation with a surgeon comeing up, but I was wondering if anyone can give their personal experiences after the surgery? Like what to expect, best types of physical therapy etc. He is not a big dog, he is only 43 pounds and he is full grown. He is very active so he does not have any weight problems.
