legs. I take Ibuprofen in the morning and it takes care of the pain for most of the day. I went to the doctor and he moved my legs in a certain way to see if it was arthritis and he said it wasn’t. He told me to take a massive dose of Ibuprofen every day for 10 days to see if this would get rid of it. It went away for a few weeks and it is back again.
To look at the rest of me you’d never expect me to have arthritis in my fingers. Im a petit, fit woman ("buff"). I look easily 10 years younger than I am. People see my muscular arms and confidantly grasp my hand. Even a light handshake (and they rarely are), is painful for me. I dont want the first subject I discuss with everyone I meet to be the ailment in my fingers! Is there no other way to avoid this custom? I’d appreciate suggestions of what I could say before someone shakes my hand and brings tears to my eyes. And by-the-way….the worst bone crushers I ever got were both from women!

I have been cracking my knuckles for years (since i was around 10) and I am worried that i will develop arthritis in the next ten years. Everyone has said that when you crack your knuckles you could possibly get arthritis, and it would be very hard to stop cracking my knuckles. I do however, have no history of arthritis in my family but could it possibly develop in the future?
I’ve just been diagnosed with arthritis and wonder whether anyone can help on advising me what foods I should avoid so as not to make my condition worse? Someone has suggested that oranges are bad. Any advice on which supplements are good would also be helpful - I have been told that glucosamine and cod liver oil are good. Thanks.

I have rheumatoid arthritis and work for a medical clinic. I do just fine if I don’t do things that aggrevate my condition which is climbing stairs. We have two offices, one upstairs (with no elevator and 24 stairs straight up) and one downstairs. I’m one of three receptionist and the doctors make us rotate between offices. I have RA in both feet and my knees and after climbing stairs I’m usually in pain for a couple days after. If I totally refuse to do their rotation, can they legally fire me, even though I do everything else that they ask of me?
