Knee Arthritis Archives

As long as I can remember, I have had periodic and severe knee pain. My knees sometimes will pop and also when I am walking sometimes it feels like the bones are grinding together. Also, every few weeks I will get severe pain in my knees that gets much worse when I stand up or walk. Does anyone know what this may be from?

I love to run. Over the past few weeks, after running I get a pain on the side of my left knee. It hurts most during the motion of extending or bending the knee and in certain positions. The pain subsides after a day or two. There is no swelling. Any clues as to what the problem might be?

I always stretch before and after running and have tried running with a knee brace - neither seem to help. After the last run, I’ve decided to stop running for at least a month to let the injury heal.

A couple of months ago I hurt my knee and after I recovered I was back to normal running, sprinting and cycling. Recently, however, I got sick for a couple of weeks and stopped exercising. Now, my knee hurts more than it ever did when I’ve tried to start running again. Even walking rapidly is a pain. What should I do to get back in shape and running?

After running for about 3 years, I had to stop running in 2007 due to knee pain. (The pain would only occur when I ran.) I started running again 2 wks ago, but the pain came back. What could it be? How can I make it go away?

I have been running for about a year now, but i just recently joined my highschool cross country team. Does anybody know any ways to get rid of knee pain?

I recently was bending down in my closet and while my knee was bent I banged the left side of my right knee on the corner of the wall. Now every once in awhile my knee will hurt when I go to bend it. I get a sharp pain in my knee when it happens on the left side of it. Or when I go to twist my knee a certain way. It will be fine for awhile and than it gets these spurts of it hurting. What could it be?

I always feel knee pain and i m going to a events in next month.Which food should i eat?

I wanted to work out and exercise this summer to get in shape for tennis and lose a few lbs, however i just got runner’s knee, which gives me mild knee pain on the left knee. Is there any cardio exercises i can still do effectively while not overusing the knee?

I recently injured my knee at work after either lifting or pulling pallets. I feel a slight strain to no pain while up and walking around during the day, but while i’m lying down for long periods of time (e.g. sleeping) I can wake up and my knee is in imense pain, that I sometimes need to jump up out of bed to make go away. It is on the right side of my left knee. There is no sign of bruising, and very slight swelling. Any ideas?

I ask this because I am obese myself and have frequent pain in my right knee. Someone told me that it could be gout, but I thought that usually occured in the joints of toes and fingers. I am 21, 6′1", and 330 pounds.

I myself, am obese. I am 22, 6'0", and weigh 315 pounds. My job requires me to stand for extended periods of time. Doing this for the past six years has caused me to have pains in my right knee from time to time. The pain is only intensified when I put weight on that leg.

In early September I started a new job that required much more getting up and down, I started to notice some knee pain when bending my knee that sometimes extends up my thigh muscle when move aggravated. My Dr. told me to just strengthen my quads and I’d be find. I have now begun to have problems with me knee when I walk and feel like Its going to give out. Any good suggestions on if he’s correct or what could be going on.

I've this chronic pain for quite some time now, I've had to use braces, and ice packs. I'm even taking a joint formula and it seems to be helping, but I'll be walking and all the sudden my knee(either one) will start hurting like I pulled a muscle or something. I can't get anything off of medical sites and it is kind of getting annoying.

I have had knee problems since I was about 14 (26 now). It used to pop out of the socket easily, just when sitting down, etc. It's sore all the time, and seems to be worse in damp weather. Looking at the knee anatomy it feels like the LCL is where most of the pain comes from. Is it possible I tore it when I was younger & it never healed right & thats what causes my pain today?

I had direct knee to pipe contact and now it hurts to bend my knee pretty much at all. Keeping the leg straight keeps me from any pain, but the pain is pretty severe with any movement. If you poke it, it doesn't hurt and the kneecap feels fine. It seems like it is something inside the knee. I'm going to the doctor tomorrow but just wondering what type of injury im looking at, any suggestion is welcome, thanks!

I have been running 3 miles every day for a month. I have knee pain. It is not too bad but still makes me uncomfortable. During the days I do not run I have no knee pain (I usually supplement by going for a walk or swim). So what do you do to manage knee pain after running?

I have alot of pain in my left knee, almost constantly, and it's usually swollen. I haven't had an injury to the knee, but I did injure my right knee several years ago. I am wondering if anyone knows of any exercises or anything to help strengthen my knee and to relieve pain? Advil helps some, but I wind up having to take so many that my ankles wind up swelling. Any SERIOUS suggestions or remedies would be greatly appreciated.
