Does glucosamine work on osteoarthritis in both knees?
my mom who is 55 and is having pain in both knees. I feel awful for her and obviously I want to help her to feel better.
Please advise or answer to my question.

The jury is still out on that one. There’s a lot of literature suggesting that it’s beneficial for arthritis, and just as much to suggest that it does nothing.
Since it’s a safe medication to take, I always tell my patients that it doesn’t hurt to try it. Only drawback that I can see is the price.
I have been taking it since December 2006 and it has made a HUGE improvement in the amount of pain that I am in on a daily basis. Now keep in mind that it took about 3 months before I noticed any difference. I take 2000 mg a day (two pills in the AM and two in the PM). It can be a little expensive but Walgreens runs the 180 count bottles "Buy one get one free" (which are $39.99 a piece) quite often. That usually lasts me about 3 months.
You have to take two separate doses, one for each knee.
