Juvenile arthritis + sport?
Hi.
I have had juvenile arthritis for 4-5 years now.At the beginning I wasn’t able to do any kind of sport, but now,as my condition is getting better due to medication,I start thinking more and more about training some kind of sport. As I really can’t run fast or long anymore, soccer is not an option, but what about martial arts?Is it safe to train a martial art when dealing with this form arthritis.I know what I’m capable of,so I don’t even think about martial art competitions and so on - just training for fitness.
I know I must ask me doctor too,but I’m visiting him in a week or two,so why not ask you?
P.S. Maybe I’ve made some grammar mistakes,but my English isn’t perfect,sorry.

Typically, high impact sports, such as fighting and especially soccer should be avoided by those with arthritis. These types of sports put a lot of strain on the body, increasing the risk of injury or arthritis pain.
Instead, low impact sports, such as walking and swimming, are usually a better choice. Stretching, like Yoga, can also help.
When you speak with your doctor, make sure to ask about your diet as well, because a healthy diet is also an essential part of treating arthritis:
