My grandmother suffers from intense gouty arthritis and has been hospitalized numerous times in the previous years. Other than changing her diet and excercise, are there any highly renowned supplements that have had alot of positive reviews? Cherry supplements seem to be popular but I cant seem to find any that encompass a variety of natural herbs. Any advice is appreciated, thanks.
I’ve had 6 joint replacements & 10 surgeries. But still suffer from flu-like digestive sys inflamation. No dairy, eggs, meat; vegan diet with herbal and other suppliments. At least I can walk, but the selfishness and cruel judgeing from biological family members and others causes me to grieve, because I love and pray for them and myself. Jesus wept a lot too. Ability to love is not about others; It’s about oneself, and God is the only witness that sees true.It is the small gestures of kindness and mercy that have the greatest meaning to someone who suffers. You don’t have to rescue them; just acknowledge them as still part of humanity. Go to others with something to share, and not with emptyness expecting others to fill you. Only you can rescue you from false identity, and still love. Purify your thoughts and heartfelt intentions. That’s what we’re here to learn. We are not our bodies. This world is only a shadow of the true world.
My 8yr old westie has really bad arthirits in her back legs especially, although I am going to ask my vet to rule out dysplasia as well and I know westies are prone to "hip degeneration" although that is a bit of a vague term.
anyway, she is currently on a medicine called meloxidyl and also glucosamine but there is pretty much no improvement. if she has been lying down for a while it takers her ages to be walking relatively normally and her back legs are extremely weak. for example, the other night I patted her on the back lightly and it took her by suprise obviously and her back legs went and she just flopped on the floor
does anyone know of anything else I can do or give to her? I want to try getting her to do a bit of swimming if I hold her in a full bathtub as she can’t swim herself so that rules the ocean out. (she is afraid of the noise of the ocean anyway)
I have also started including oily fish in her diet. (tuna in sunflower oil)
10 points for the best answer.
thanks for the help so far, I’m going to give her a chance of about a week to respond to this medication and then I’m going to ask for an x-ray. I will also look into the vitamin C and the other things. My vet’s assistant reccomended massage as well but I don’t really have any idea where to start so if anyone could post a link to a website showing how to do it that’d be great. Thanks again! Look forward to reading more answers.
I have been exercising at the gym for a week now and everyday I have joint pain and general body pain. I have had to take Liquid Advil but don’t want to make it a habit. Is there something I can add to my diet, certain foods, etc that will help me work my way out of the pain?
I have been diagnosed with Rheumatoid Arthritis. My arthritis is very slight so far and is in my hands and my right wrist. I do not want the meds from the doctor unless absolutely necessary. I am thinking that as it has only just started, maybe I have a chance at controlling it with a healthier lifestyle and some supplements. I am going to try it anyway, before I have any toxic drugs pumped into my body by people who have not even tested them over a long term basis yet. My question is this; What supplements work together and are there some combinations I shouldn’t try? For instance, if I took glucosamine, chondroitin and snow lotus extract at the same time, will the active ingredients in them react badly, work together or cancel each other out? I have cut everything from my diet except oily fish, veg, fruit, nuts and seeds and am planning on taking glucosamine, chondroitin and fish oil alongside my diet anyway, as they cant harm and will protect my joints a little in the long run. Then I am going to add a supplement for a month and see if it helps at all. If it doesnt, I’ll try another etc. Also, I have quit smoking today, hoping that will help. Has anyone got any advice on this? It would be greatly appreciated, as a lifetime on experimental drugs is looking pretty bleak to me right now. I am only 21 and I’m finding the whole thing more than a little scary.
I was in my doctor's office and saw pamphlets for Synvisc injections for the knees. My doc said it would probably help me. Have been annoyed about my diet and exercise regimen, too. I'm 5',small frame and I weighed 110 pounds 2 yrs ago, creeping up to like 135 now, but lately I can't find any exercises I can do without suffering a great deal in my joints afterward. My doc said stairs and elliptical machines are out for me (knees too bad) Anybody have any input for me, on any of this, I'll be grateful. Also, if anyone has been thru the mill with the arthritis meds, what do you find works well ? (any thoughts on Glucosamine compounds?)
Can we do something, diet,or other to not develope .arthritis? Is there anything that a person can do if they have arthritis already,to eliminate it from the body? Is there a complete and lasting cure, without any drugs.something now in the findings to save us from arthritis.I want to be able to wear heels again, without, pain or worry.I want to be able to dance,as much as I would like to again.I need to save my knees, and my hands ,fingers,feet.toes.neck from this. Please help.Has medical findings traced, and cured arthritis?I really do need to stop it especially in my knees. I HAD FALLEN ABOUT 4 YEARS AGO IT SEEMED TO AGGRIVATE THE ONSET OF ARTHRITIS IN MY TWO KNEES.Where did arthritis come from? Some say hereditary ,can it be reversed,or close to reversing the effects ? I want to prevent further pain,I do not want to deteriorate,Im still young enough to want to have a long full life, there has to be a way, a cure.a breakthrough. I await your response.
My mom was advised by her doctor to have knee replacement surgery due to her arthritis. However, since she's diabetic, he also advised that she lose 30-50 pounds prior to surgery. Her diet is fine, but she really needs to incorporate more exercise to help get the weight off. Besides water aerobics, what are some low impact exercises she can do that would put pressure and strain on her knees? Thanks.
I think my 6 year old Pyr is developing arthritis, but because I am unemployed (thank you, economy) I cannot afford a trip to the vet. The symptoms are stiffness of the hind hips, and a "high arching" limp.
The first thing that comes to everyone's mind is hip dysplasia. When I take him on walks it tends to loosen up and by the end of the walk it is relatively unnoticeable.
So I think it is actually just arthritis…. but I know the only way for sure is to take him to the vet and pay a chunk. He's never had a limp until recent months - we're in an apartment with all hardwood floors. A few months after moving in he started limping, so I bought him a memory foam bed. That helped for a while but then the limp came back. I have also noticed improvements when I give him senior supplements but now I'm out of those. I am hoping a change of diet can help his condition until I am employed again and can get him to a vet.
I have always fed him Authority Large Breed (the petsmart store brand), but now I am looking for something that could be more beneficial for his condition.
Any recommendations?

I also had twins, one with c section and the other vaginally. So I had my stomach muscles torn in both directions. I AM NOT LOOKING TO BUY ANY EQUIPMENT OR DIET PLANS. I firmly believe that someone knows something that will help!
